What It’s About:

Crossing Swords follows Patrick, a goodhearted peasant who lands a coveted squire position at the royal castle. Patrick’s dream job quickly turns into a nightmare when he learns his beloved kingdom is run by a hornet’s nest of horny monarchs, crooks and charlatans. Even worse, Patrick’s valour made him the black sheep in his family, and now his criminal siblings have returned to make his life hell.

When & Where You Can Watch It:

Crossing Swords premieres in Canada on June 18 at 10 p.m. ET on CTV Comedy Channel. All ten episodes will be available to stream on ctvcomedy.ca, the CTV Comedy Channel mobile app, and the brand new CTV connected TV app. The first episode of the series will be available to stream for free on all platforms. Huzzah!

Who’s In It:

*Spoiler Alert* in case you want to play the “whose voice is that?” game while you watch the first episode.

Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies, The Favourite) plays Patrick while Tara Strong, Adam Pally (Happy Endings), Tony Hale (Veep) and others take on Crossing Swords’ numerous supporting roles. Seth Green, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Breckin Meyer, Yvette Nicole Brown, Maya Erskine, and Alfred Molina also make guest appearances throughout the season.

Why You Should Watch It:

If you take the aesthetic of the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer claymation special and the setting of A Knight’s Tale and combine it with the unapologetic raunchiness of Big Mouth, you get Crossing Swords.
If that’s not enough to pique your interest, Crossing Swords was also created by the minds behind Robot Chicken and SuperMansion. But don’t worry, the show’s not all raunch---it’s also got a ton of heart, meaning that you’ll almost certainly find yourself rooting for a clothespin dressed up as a knight. Who would’ve thought?
