Drunk History creator Derek Waters was presumably sober during his visit to the Conan set last night, where he offered a convincing theory for why it’s so fun to watch people tell stories while toga-party drunk. For Waters, it’s the wasted narrator’s “frustrated passion” that makes Drunk History so special; their own drunken sense that they are correct mixed with their own drunken inability to string together a coherent sentence. Also in this interview, Waters tells the embarrassing story of why he can never watch The Simpsons. It involves getting stung by a jellyfish in a place no 8-year-old should be tampered with.
